The casino is also happy to issue a check, although as nemartin points out, they will always tell you it will take longer. at all other times in NJ casinos, when asking for taxes to be taken out, only federal taxes were deducted. i have had hundreds of handpays and only that one time did i have a problem. when i explained that i was a new york state resident, it took quite a long time for them to reissue me my corrected paperwork. Once, i asked for federal taxes to be withheld on a royal at showboat and they came back with both federal and new jersey taxes withheld for me. they can't, even on request, but they will gladly withhold state taxes for new jersey residents. i'm surprised to learn so many think that a new jersey casino could ever possibly withhold state taxes for any state other than new jersey. they have no authority to collect revenue for any other state nor would they want to be responsible for the transfer of those funds. No, they don't withhold taxes for other states because they can't. has their own respective law governing whether backup withholding is required or not.<< >I suspect the reason why a gaming property will not withhold for State Taxes (from gaming winnings) is because every State Govt. ![]()
